The Iditarod Trail Song Hobo Jim

There’s a really good reason why today’s song is The Iditarod Trail Song by Hobo Jim.  My present to my parents for Christmas is a trip for the three of us and my aunt to see the start in March in Anchorage, Alaska.

I’m typing this in November, and I’m planning on filming them.  I hope to have yesterday posted a video of their reaction.

We’ve followed the race all my life because of our huskies.  When we went to Alaska, in 2009, visiting Jeff King’s Husky Homestead (http://www.huskyhomestead.com/) was a highlight.

And yes, hopefully, this will lead to several blog posts.

Could I have this dance?

So maybe this doesn’t appear to have that much to do with traveling (and maybe I use the word “so” to much.)  Anne (is with an e a Canadian thing?) Murray is from Nova Scotia.  In high school we toured the museum to her near the Bay of Fundy.  I recommend it, and my parents loved it.

Usually I try to get the music video, but I count Dancing With the Stars, Dirty Dancing, and Amy Grant as some of my favorite entertainment options.  How could I resist?  And wouldn’t this make a great first dance at a wedding?

Wild Again

Sticking for a second week with 80s movies.  This one is from Cocktail, which is probably just bad.  The soundtrack is good though, at least according to 13 year old me.  This song is the one I would crank up when I was annoyed.  Perfect song when you want just say “Whatever” (or something less nice) and take off in you car for parts unknown.

The Shag

My favorite movie ever is Shag: The Movie from 1988.  The choreographer was Kenny Ortega (after Dirty Dancing, before High School Musical)  4 friends sneak off to Myrtle Beach and have the expected hijinks.  It’s not profound, but it is incredibly fun.

Here’s Tommy Page doing the title song from the soundtrack.  I know the video is about the cheesiest thing ever.  Do you think he was contractually obligated to do it?
